Subliminal Messages

I had a dream last night that I was fighting the Taliban. I was in some kind of small town and no one seemed to know that the Taliban were about to burst out of the cellars of this one building (I'm not too sure how I knew this, but...). I went to the police station to warn everyone (unsuccessfully, of course) and then all this crazy fighting broke out as the bad guys emerged. When I woke up, the radio was on a news report about Afghanistan.
I drifted back to sleep, and suddenly I was dreaming about trying to explain Alberta politics (or lack thereof) to Stephane Dion. When I woke up that time, the radio was playing something about Dion being in the midst of a western Canadian tour.
Now what intrigues me is the thought of being able to plant some subliminal suggestions into certain people. The only question is how do I sneak into their room and disguise myself as a radio?

Refund please

Have you ever been to a movie so bad, so incredibly stupid - that you've actually walked out on it? What happens if it's a stupid dream? How do you walk out on that?
I had a dream where I was back working at my old job. Managing at some crummy retail store. And I was reciting the corporate line - trying to convince the other employees what a great place to work it was. Trying to get them to drink the corporate cool-aid, as it were.
What a crappy waste of a dream that was.
There's an hour of unconsciousness I'll never get back.
I think there's only ever been one actual movie that I've walked out on. Madonna's first movie. What the hell was it called? Desperately Seeking Susan? Don't ask what prompted two teenage boys to go see that - maybe it was the vague hope that she'd get naked. Add that to the list of disappointments about that movie.

Brain = cool

Have you ever woken yourself up from a dream?
This month - I seem to be dreaming a lot - or at least I seem to be remembering the dreams I'm having.
I had one where a large spider was dropping towards my head. I remember telling myself to 'wake up' and jerking my head up and away. I did that three times and the weird part was that I was still in the dream, but I could also feel myself actually moving my head. Then I woke up and I was half sitting up, trying to jerk my head up and away. It didn't even take me a minute to realize that I had been dreaming - I had already figured that out while I was still asleep.
Some days, dreams really do fascinate me.

Workmares revisited

The last couple nights, I've discovered a new type of workmare (a dream related to work, in case you were unaware).

I'm not just dreaming about being at work, or people I work with - but now I'm dreaming about being inside my work. Last night I was actually in a videogame. Sounds like fun you say? Apparently you don't know our video games - they involve a lot of shooting and stuff. Great fun when you're doing the shooting. Not so much when you are being shot at.

I'm taking this as another sign that I've been working too much this summer.

Favourite Worst Nightmare

Mine has to be the tooth dream. Every now and then, I get it - ever since I was a kid.
It never starts out the same, but it always ends with me wiggling one or more of my teeth until they fall out.
Never a pleasent feeling, waking up checking to make sure you actually have all of your teeth left.
I probably shouldn't refer to it as a 'favourite', I guess.

Workmares

I love dreams. They're like a free trip to the movies. Even if you've done nothing fun all day, you can at least look forward to some self-generated entertainment at night. (not that kind! Get your mind out of the gutter) Sure, sometimes they can be strange and unfathomable but being free, who are we to complain.

I have a friend who used to work at a restaurant called the Keg as a waiter. When he was working a lot of shifts, he'd occaisionally have these waiter nightmares he used to call 'kegmares'. He'd be dropping dishes, forgetting orders, spilling drinks, generally the kind of things that make a waiters life hell.

Now, seeing as I make video games, I occaisionally have fun dreams. Last night I was in the midst of some science fiction adventure. Whatever I was saying, people around me were getting mad, and...just like in a video game, I wanted to redo the action. I had been walking in this large sewer and I became aware that swirling in the water beneath my feet were all the different dialog choices that I could make. But after saying something different, my perception became all screwed up - like seeing a movie shot with bad camera angles. Shortly after - I woke up and listened to Art Bell for an hour.

Fortunately my cameras are working much better today.
